Interested in a Cane Corso Puppy? We breed the best quality pups around!

Welcome to RyDa Corsos. We (Ryheim & Dawn, hence the name) are dedicated to raising well adjusted, loving, family protectors. We have loved dogs our whole lives and have bred other breeds over the years but once we were introduced to the Cane Corso our hearts were taken over. All of our dogs are raised in our home with us. They are valued and loved family members. All of our puppies are whelped and nurtured in our home, by us.
Our dogs and puppies are ICCF registered, some litters are dual registered AKC and ICCF
While the Cane Corso can appear intimidating, when bred, raised, socialized, and trained properly we believe they are the best breed out there! Cane Corso will be very attuned to your moods and feelings and may even think they are the cause of your happiness, grief, anger, or pride. Cane Corso owners describe the relationship as one of subtlety and depth and we wholeheartedly agree.
Contact us to discuss our dogs and available pups, we love talking about our babies and helping to educate new owners.
Good healthy dogs start from the inside. Our dogs are fed a high-quality raw diet (beef, chicken, turkey, lamb, pork, rabbit and venison) with additions such as, eggs, plain non-fat Greek yogurt, fish, pureed pumpkin, coconut oil and blueberries. We follow mostly the Prey model (PMR) diet which consists of about 80% muscle meat, 10% edible bone, and 10% organ. We also mix in some high-quality kibble for variety.
The key to a furever friend is the relationship you create.
Corsos are intelligent, eager to please, versatile, and intensely loyal to their humans, but they are also assertive and willful, and can end up owning an unwitting owner. As with any other big guardian dog, responsible breeding and early socialization with people and other dogs is vital. .
It is important to work with your dog in training sessions on a consistent basis. You could employ the assistance of a professional trainer but your Cane Corso MUST learn to work with and obey YOU. They must not see you as an equal but a trusted and respected Alpha.
DON'T GET A CANE CORSO if you lack leadership and a self-assertive personality. Dogs do not believe in social equality. They live in a social hierarchy led by a pack-leader (Alpha).
UNDERSTANDING BREED-SPECIFIC TRAITS 🐾
Understanding the unique breed-specific traits and characteristics of your dog is crucial for providing them with the best possible lifestyle and environment.
Each dog breed has been developed for specific purposes, such as herding, guarding, hunting, or companionship, and these traits are deeply ingrained in their genetics which reflects their behaviors and needs. By recognizing and RESPECTING these traits, dog owners can be proactive and create an environment that aligns with their dog’s natural instincts, promoting a harmonious and fulfilling life for both the dog and the owner for longterm success!
Example with a Cane Corso breed:
The Cane Corso is a breed known for its strong guarding instincts and loyalty to its family. They are naturally protective and can be wary of strangers, making them excellent guard dogs. HOWEVER, these traits can also lead to behaviors that may seem challenging if not properly understood and managed.
Example Scenario:
Choosing a Location for the Crate or Safe Area
Imagine you place your Cane Corso's crate in the living room near the entrance to the kitchen. Initially, this may seem like a convenient location because it allows your dog to be close to the family and observe household activities. However, as the dog matures, especially into its teenage years, you may notice it barking or becoming anxious when guests walk by or enter the kitchen.
This behavior is not merely disobedience; it's driven by the dog’s natural protective instincts and the following factors:
1. Protectiveness Over Personal Space: The dog sees the crate as its safe space and may feel threatened when strangers come too close.
2. Guarding Food or Resources: The Cane Corso might feel the need to guard the kitchen area, especially when food is being prepared, which taps into their instinct to protect resources.
3. Reactivity: A dog will exhibit reactivity behaviors from pent up frustration simply from not being given the appropriate outlets of BOTH mental and physical stimulation everyday. Dogs get bored quickly and need to have a structured daily routine to reinforce appropriate behaviors and prevent unwanted behaviors.
Instead of reprimanding your dog for barking or seeming aggressive, a proactive approach is to understand and respect these breed-specific traits. Work on the "Leave It" command on certain things and in different situations, rewarding them for listening to you.
Another helpful action would be moving the crate to a quieter, more secluded area, like an office or spare bedroom, can provide your Cane Corso with a space where it feels secure and less threatened by the comings and goings of strangers or activity around food preparation areas. This adjustment respects the dog’s natural guarding instincts while preventing unnecessary stress or conflict.
By understanding and RESPECTING the breed-specific traits and characteristics of their dogs, owners can be proactive to create environments that align with their dogs natural behaviors and instincts. This approach reduces the likelihood of behavioral issues, fosters an understanding and creates a stronger bond between the dog and owner, and ultimately leads to a happier and more balanced life for the dog.
So instead of viewing certain behaviors as problems, dog owners should recognize them as expressions of their dog’s genetic heritage and find proactive ways to accommodate these needs.

There are places where you can find a Cane Corso puppy cheaper. Those puppies are unlikely to come with pedigree information or health guarantees. Ours do! For approved homes, our puppies costs $2500 for a family companion and between $2800 - $3000 for a show dog prospect/breeding rights.
Absolutely, with training. The Cane Corso is strongly devoted to its family and they are usually a velcro-type of dog. They want to be close to their owners and will often follow them around the house or yard. In the house they are a constant shadow, always wanting to stay in close contact with their owners and love being 100+lb lap dogs.
Cane Corsos are a naturally protective breed with their families and property and will typically remain aloof and suspicious of strangers. They can be a dominant dog, especially with intact males and require training. Despite their rugged exterior appearance, they are a very sensitive breed and only fair positive training methods should be used. Many Corsos will sulk and become obviously upset for hours after being scolded by their owners.
Yes, All of our dogs are registered with ICCF and have their pedigrees. We also have two that are dual registered AKC/ICCF.
Corsos are extremely intelligent and need consistent, lifelong training from an owner who will be clear about expectations. If they aren't given direction, they will act on instinct, which is to treat anything outside of their family unit and property as a potential threat.
More than that, Cane Corsos get attached to their owners and like to cuddle to express their loyalty. The same can't be said about outsiders, though. Unless properly introduced, this breed isn't too fond of strangers (people or other dogs).
A Cane Corso becomes deeply attached and devoted to his own family, but he doesn't "wear his heart on his sleeve." Some are noticeably reserved, others are more outgoing, but few adults are usually exuberantly demonstrative of their affection to only one person. That said, when they love you, you know! They make remarkable eye contact with their favorite people.
The decision between a male and a female Cane Corso comes down to your confidence to handle these pups. Both males and females have a dominant and loyal nature, but males are generally a bit more challenging to train and tame. Still, if you’re confident in your abilities and can train a male Cane Corso, they tend to be a little more emotionally stable.
Ultimately, there’s no wrong choice between a male and female Cane Corso. It comes down to you, your preferences, and how much you can handle.
Just ensure that you have what it takes before you head out and purchase one. These loving giants form strong bonds quickly with their people, and they don’t always fare the best if you decide that you cannot keep them for their lifetime.
